Biography

LIFE MEMBER WEST MANCHESTER RADIO CLUB, MEMBER OTLEY RADIO SOC. R.A.F.A.R.S. 2166

First licenced in 1984 my main interest is 2 mtr SSB. I also operated SSB & CW on Satellites OSCAR 10 & 13 for about ten years.
For many years I helped run a very popular DX NET (THE LAZY DX NET)on 14.184mhz Net Control was my dear friend Ray (G3MTL) the phonetics he used for his call MUCH TOO LAZY
hence the Net became known as the Lazy Net. He was a Superb Radio Operator and very well liked around the World. I was fortunate to have a 60ft Strumech Tower & TB3 Beam
I would offset my beam heading from Control's heading to help pick up calls that would otherwise have been missed, sometimes listening on behalf of Control on another frequency to help bring in less strong & QRP and then QSY to 14.184 with the list.

We had regular check in's with very nice DX such as William FO5JV not forgetting the guy's in Kathmandu, one of which Dick (9N1ARB) stayed over at my QTH,of course he joined the Net speaking back to Rich (9N1RHM).

Sadly Ray died in March 1996, and with his prior blessing a few friends ran a Special Event Station using his equipment from his QTH to put the phonetics MUCH TOO LAZY on the air one last time.

I had kept Net Members aware of Ray's condition over the course of many weeks and told them about the Special Event GB2MTL.
The log sheets from that event was a tribute from all his friends around the world. saying one last farewell to G3MTL.

73 KEV G0KEV,

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
