Grand-Mère est une ancienne ville du Québec, au Canada, fusionnée à la ville de Shawinigan,
et située à 35 kilomètres de Trois-Rivières, l’ouest de la rivière Saint-Maurice,ancienne ville de la région de la Mauricie,
Grand-Mère a une population d’environ 15 mille habitants.
La superficie de Grand-Mère est de 63 km².....

Le nom de la localité provient d’un rocher dont la forme rappelle une femme.
Ce rocher était situé sur les berges de la rivière Saint-Maurice
