Biography

After a long, 3 year fight with SS, I finally got approved and am now on SSDI. That being said, I was finally able to purchase what I would call my dream station. Now being on a limited and fixed income with 3 teenagers, any other new equipment will be next to nill!!!! All that remains to obtain now, is an amp!! PW-1 would be ideal in order to match my 100% Icom station however, any solid state amp covering 80/75 - 6m would be a station completion!!!

I've been working JT65 for a number of years now. Also been running WSPR as well. If I am not running BPSK31 on 20 then most likely I'm running JT-65 on any open HF band during the day and 40m and 30m at night!! I utilize my IC-7000 at just 2 - 5 watts of power on JT65, WSPR, and JT9! Anything more then that is quite simply over kill and wipes out the waterfall. JT65/JT9 are, after all, low power QRP modes which I enjoy!! My digital radio, my Icom IC-7000 is hooked up to my Cushcraft R-8 vertical which is only 12' off the ground atop my tripod from GoVerticalUSA. They have the best tripods and mast assemblies for the best price that I have found thus far!! Hope to see y'all on the waterfall soon!!!

I would also like to start collecting vintage radio gear. Such as Collins S-Line, anything Drake and Hammerlund xmitter and receiver, Heathkit items, Viking Johnson items, Yaesu FT 101 line, you get the picture. Pretty much anything that requires tubes to operate!! Doesn't have to work just look good on a shelf!! I've never had any vintage gear of any kind so that is another thing I'd like to start collecting!!! I can not afford much so if you are in need of getting rid of any vintage, tube type gear or need space for new gear I will gladly take them!! I take donations HIHI!!!! Again, on my fixed and limited income, I can afford too much at this time.

Now, for a little info about myself. I am a medically retired 45 yro happily married individual of 20 years and counting!!! Hobbies include of course, Amateur Radio first and for most. I have always loved free hand drawing and ceramics. Making pots, bowls vases and such used to be a great relaxing pass time for me. I can no longer do that as it takes a lot of form a 50lb block of clay. I'm lucky if I can lift more then 10 lbs now due to the ACDF procedure I had on my neck. I had 2 discs replaced in the C-Spine region, (C-2, 3 and 4 are fused) and have 2 more (C-5 and 6) that are reeking havoc on my spine and nerves. Consistent numbness to my arms is a daily event. Seems like the surgery did more harm then good as I am still in consistent pain on a daily basis. Being medically retired from the Tire Changing industry of some 25+ years, the job finally took its toll on my body. Retirement of any flavor is not it's all cracked up to be if one does not have a surplus of cash in savings. Ours became depleted once I had the ACDF procedure done. I regret having had it done as I am still in consistent pain on a daily basis. I would not wish this kind of botched procedure on anyone.

I also enjoy playing in the dirt with my wife, (aka gardening) and she is studying to get her Ham ticket now!!. Took me 18 years but she is now interested and occasionally assists me by logging contacts when I am chasing DX during band openings!! She also watches Ham Nation with me which comes on every Wednesday evening at 18:00 PST on http://live.twit.tv/ If we miss it during the live show, we will watch the uploaded broadcast on YouTube!! She gets a kick out of George and all his sound FX during his Smoke and Solder segments!!

I check into the JNN Net which meets daily on 7.204Mhz when I remember to do so!! I participate in so many Nets thru out the day, and I am sure that I am forgetting to mention some here now, that I occasionally miss one or two!! I am a relay station for the International RV Service Net http://rvsvcnet.wbcci.net/ also http://www.pacificrvservicenet.com/index.html which takes place on 7.268.50(40m) beginning at 09:00 PST and immediately following that Net, the Noon Time Net begins on the same freq. I also partake in the Western Public Service System Net http://3952khz.net/ which takes place on 3.952Mhz(75m) beginning at 18:00 until around 21:00 PST. I usually check in there every evening then move to 3.870Mhz(75m) for a round table with the Western AM Club http://ami-west.com/ I also now partake in the Country Cousins Net which take place on 3.970 every nite at 21:00. On VHF/UHF I partake in the Central Valley Radio Club Net http://www.centralvalleyradioclub.com/ I am also an active member of the Ham Radio Social web site, Ham Radio Nation!! http://hamradionation.com/home.php Come by and say hello if I happen to be on the site!!! So if you're ever passing thru the central San Joaquin Valley along Interstate 5 here in Calif, (you'll smell the infamous Harris Feed Yard!!) program a few of the repeaters from the CVRC web site and you'll be sure to have a QSO with me or even an eyeball if I am near the radio!!!

I participate in the 20m OMISS Net http://www.omiss.net/Facelift/ and I'm currently working towards my WAS on the 20m band. OMISS has Nets on several HF bands and I will work each one individually as time permits. You never know, you may work me on each band that OMISS rolls a Net on!!! Once that is done I will attempt WAS on the 40 Omiss Net. So please, if we've worked on ANY band, please confirm on LOTW so that I can get some wall paper or some sort. I feel like I've not accomplished much in this wonderful hobby as I have no awards of any kind yet. When I got my Vanity call, my logbook was not transferred over to this call so all the contacts I've made over the last 20+ years were lost. Rather upsetting to say the least. In any case, if we've worked on ANY bands, please confirm our QSO!!! I love getting QSL Cards and used to have over 800 however, during life's trials and tribulations, I have lost them all. So if we have ever had a QSO over the last several years, please send me a QSL Card with all info of our QSO. I would like to try and regain some, if not all the cards I had in the past, (previous call KE6SHJ). I realize this may be asking a lot however, this is important to me. I hope y'all understand! I do not have any cards of my own to send out at this time however, I am working on a new, custom design for a card and it may take me a while to get QSL cards to send back due to being on such a fixed and limited income so please be patient with me as I struggle thru this!

Best 73's and I hope to work you all on the bands very soon!!!!
