| Repeater information Biography On the air since April 2004, LASA offers an Amateur Radio Club that dabbles in all different aspects of the Amateur Radio Service. Club members have facilitated contacts with the International Space Station, made satellite contacts, received two rare Good Operator Report cards from official ARRL observers, experimented with every manner of communications modes, and built a wide assortment of antennas, radio interfaces, transmitters, receivers, and transceivers. It was founded by Noah Kalish, KD5VDO; David Broockman, KD5ZNC; and club sponsor Ronny Risinger, KC5EES; with the beloved mentor Joe Fisher, K5EJL, joining in 2005. It placed first in the High School division of ARRL's School Club Round-Up in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2017, and 2019. The club is currently run by Club President James Ervin, KI5UXW; Vice President Cale Acker KI5PYB; Self-Proclaimed Brakeman Joe Fisher, K5EJL; and with Club Sponsor, Ronny Risinger, KC5EES. Currently, the K5LBJ Radio Club is preparing for its next step into the future as it expects to become solely an extracurricular club, as the retirement of Ronny Risinger leaves the Amateur Radio Elective without a teacher.
