Biography

PLEASE NOTE: I am now a resident of New York State, but any QSO's made in VT through October 19, 2014 will receive my VT QSL card.

Wow, what a wonderful first year as an Amateur Radio Operator (ARO)! Everybody has been so welcoming and it's nice to be a part of the ARO community and this hobby.

In August 2013 I became an ARO and by December I received my Extra license!

Summer 2014 has been great for making my first HF contacts while operating under my own call sign. It's been exciting to use RF to speak with people in Europe, Canada, and the US. I had a blast CQing W1AW/1 for Vermont and responding to pileups...what a great experience! My Vermont QSL card is a picture I took the first time I hiked to the summit of Camel's Hump.

While driving I enjoy my Kenwood TM-D710G and am probably listening on 2m and 440. The Scanner Radio Deluxe App is usually running on my cell phone throughout the day and I've also been known to key up on EchoLink periodically. My newest interests include soldering and CW.

One day I will talk on the air with my Uncle Jim (WB2UHF) who's been an ARO for over 50 years, but hasn't operated in a LONG time. It's time to make a visit and dust off his equipment!

I also look forward to using Amateur Radio to assist with Public Service.

“Intelligent people listen to radio. They don't need pictures. They use their imagination and appreciate the call.”
