Biography

I am 76 years old and a Retired Cereal Milling Engineer, and now live in the Province of KZN in Richards Bay South Africa. I am a new Ham having passed the RAE in Dec 2020.

I have always been interested in being a Ham but could not get to grips with CW. My interest in Amateur Radio came from my Hobby in CB radio, I ended up purchasing a FRG 7 which I transported all over Africa which kept me interested and was eventually convinced by a fellow Ham to write the RAE, and of course CW was no longer necessary.

I am active on 80M,40M,20M,15M and 10M. as well as 2M when in Big City areas where there is access to a local repeater network.
Really enjoying Ham Radio and hope to have many QSO,s with fellow Hams overseas. My longest contact so far has been PY4BZ in Brazil
